This is the medieval town on the island, complete with a medieval wall around it. The town and the wall, are a part of the UNESCO world heritage list(!)

Welcome back to my photo series! We continue to travel around the large “main island” in Sweden, that I showed you previously. The name of this island is “Gotland” in Swedish. But, today we are not so superficial, so we do not look mainly for sheer beauty, but instead; the beauty in odd little places, scenery and stuff we find along the way. We might even see a knight or two(!), and some cute animal, perhaps. So let us go out and explore the place a bit more. Since this is the last we see of this island, we will have to shoot some extra frames! If you are ever stressed out and come to this island, you will leave with a refreshed mind and soul. There is so much peace, tranquility and quiet beauty, here. When I was a child, I went here every summer with my family – some of my fondest memories! That’s why I would like to show it to you through my eyes, so that perhaps you will understand why this place is in my Β πŸ’œ !Β

Inside the medieval walls – a very quaint little town!

In some places along the coast, there are great rock formations carved out by the sea. Some have strange shapes, and people amuse themselves trying to think of what the rock formations resemble “in real life”.. (figures/persons etc)

What do you think this rock formation looks like?Β (My guess is a children’s te – – – -ear, seen from the side/behind!)

When we walk along the coast, we find this old house, built in the old style of the island

“Can I join your picnic?” The cows roam freely in, yes you guessed it, “Cow’s Bay”! πŸ™‚

Finally we arrive at another beautiful lighthouse, (we saw one in a previous part of the photo series aswell)

A family building sand castles at the beach – they do not mind the sky looking menacing

Wild strawberries really like this island – and we like this island AND wild strawberries! Bonus for us! πŸ™‚Β

We enter the medieval town again – cause it is the Medieval festival! This festival goes on for a week, with residents dressing in medieval clothes, medieval markets, theatre about events during that era – and of course: knights jousting in a tournament!

The Black Knight is doing well…

We say farewell to our favorite island in the Baltic Sea!

That’s it for today folks! We will be back to some other part of Sweden in the future, although we may mix it up before that, and take a look at the last remaining parts of Ireland and Scotland photos series first, for variety. See you next time! Β πŸ™‚
