I’m very excited to announce that I’m in the process of going self hosted with my blog! Yes, the costume “free version of WordPress” has become very tight for me. (All those darn photo blogs I’ve been posting)!
It will be an adventure to say the least, to try and figure out all the technical aspects of being a self hosted blogger – especially when one is so NOT tech savvy. I’m not kidding, I’m the equivalent of illiterate, when it comes to computers and technology. (Tech-iterate? Nah, probably not a word, right?…). My new website should be up soon, within a day or two perhaps. It will be www.survivednarc.com, instead. No link just yet, though!
The host I’ll have is supposed to have some sort of great tech support. (God, I hope that’s true). I can see an image of myself like tom Cruise in Vanilla Sky, when he is yelling: “Tech support! Tech support! I wanna wake uuuup“!
What is really exciting and what I look forward to the most, is the opportunity to be able to design my own blogsite. Choose a wonderful new design theme, place widgets where I want, etc. Silly, but fun! I hope to be able to make my blog look like it does in my dreams…. We will see. It will be a work in progress for a while. (Or forever).
Another great thing of course, is that I feel this could give the blog a new direction, new life, if you will.
Oooh, not to worry, my Dearest reader! I’m right now looking into how I can transfer you with me to the new site automatically. Perhaps if you follow me by email only, (and not through the Reader), you might have to “sign up” again on my new site.
It’s still a “WordPress site”, even if self hosted. I’m currently following one blogger who I know is self hosted. (Likely, many more are).
The only difference about her site, is: If I read her blog in the “Reader”, from my cel phone, I have to sometimes “actively” click, to go visit her actual blog site, if I want to comment. That’s the only difference I’ve noticed. One extra click, reading on cel phones. Should be manageable! 🙂
Will return with more info shortly, if needed! (P.S. If you missed Me Guest Blogging earlier, you can check that out: Here).
