Hello friends! Today I will show you some more of the Croatia photos. We will walk upon the stone walls surrounding the Old Town, and also we will get a few pics from the nearby island of Lokrum. But first,

THE OLD TOWN OF DUBROVNIK:

When you look at the pictures of the Old Town in Dubrovnik here, it might interest you to know that a lot of Game of Thrones scenes were filmed in Croatia! Amongst other things, this very city we are looking at here in the photos, was used as “King’s Landing”, the capital in the fictional Game of Thrones kingdoms. (So yes, “Watchers on the Wall” in the title, is an inside joke to all GoT viewers). I hope you enjoy these photos! It is a beautiful place no matter if you are a fan of the TV series or not.

THE ISLAND: LOKRUM

Surprisingly, there are few sandy beaches in Croatia. However, there are still plenty of places you can swim in the sea, they have built lots of ladders down from flat rocks straight into the sea. Quite lovely! ( I didn’t catch them on photos unfortunately).. I loved those “cliff baths” much more than the beaches with pebbles etc. So, be an adventurous person and rethink “a day on the beach”. (Yes, if you want to be a traditional tourist, there are some packed beaches with sunchairs etc, too!)

Looking straight down into the water near the little dock at Lokrum: I left this photo completely unedited so you can see the exact “true color” that I saw through my lens here. Incredible, isn’t it? 🙂

Blue afternoon, crazy heat and men on a boat. Farewell little island…

I have only one advice if you go to Croatia, do not go in July/August, the heat is almost unbearable, much better to go in May or September, so you can avoid the crowds, also. It is a beautiful place, truly, but the crowds and the heat can take away some of the charm of this amazing place, so if I go back I will do it more justice by going in a calmer time of the season. It IS worth seeing, I think you will agree after these photo posts? 😉
